Mayra Gomez, a medical assistant in Laredo, wants everyone in her hometown to take COVID-19 seriously. The virus has overwhelmed hospitals in the border town. The 36-year-old is volunteering to administer the vaccine through the local fire department to help stifle the virus’ spread.
